Welcome 2018!
I can't believe my first semester as the Lead Learner/Principal/CEO of AWEsome at Bryan County Middle School is in the books! It has been an incredible six months filled with ExExExCellent moments.
One of my first goals when I learned I was selected to be the principal of BCMS was to make sure that every scholar had an ELITE middle school experience. Honest Moment: middle school can be a scary thought! Puberty, tweens, SNAP chat, trying to figure yourself out while maintaining friendships, crushes, dances, athletics, and academics-- intimidating! If you would ask most people if they would want to go back to their middle school years, I think they would look at you with crazy eyes! Well that just isn't going to work for me! I was on a passion mission to make BCMS an incredible experience that included FUN! What is the best way to ignite the energy? PICTURES! 12,883 is how many pictures I currently have on my iPhone of ELITEness that is happening at BCMS! 12,883 is A.LOT.OF.PICTURES! If you know me, you know I'm a double fisted iPhone camera principal. I am constantly snapping pictures of everything that happens in our schoolhouse-- smiles, laughing, teaching, events, learning, activities, hallway shenanigans, and my favorite, SELFIES! Is there a more authentic way to model to our middle schoolers pride in self, love of self, and belief in self? It inspires them to love learning, love school, take risks, say cheese, have FUN, and enjoy the journey! The same characteristics I want out of every adult who commits to being a change agent at BCMS!
Middle School needs to be an ELITE, ENGAGING, and AWESOME experience for every single scholar.- everyday! Of course it's not always "easy", there will be obstacles and challenges, difficult learning experiences and times where a whole day might encompass lots and lots of tears for our young adolescents, but it will always be worth it!
